The film bombed at the box office — and failed to make a lasting impression on the contestants.

This news aggravated a certain audience on Twitter, which meant Gene Kelly headlined the trending topics for one night only.

“Sad: on “Jeopardy!” tonight, none of the contestants knew who Gene Kelly was when shown a photo of him. Guess I’m getting old,” one sighed.

Kelly died Feb. 2, 1996, at the age of 83, after suffering strokes. “Captain America” star Chris Evans is rumored to be portraying him in a film announced earlier this year.
